Coconino County Fair Proposes Fee Changes

The proposed recommended fees affect admission prices for adults, seniors, and active-duty military/veterans as well as the parking fee. Youth ticket prices would not change for the 2023 Fair but would change in 2024. Attendees ages 5 years and younger will not be affected by this change The Coconino County Board of Supervisors reviewed the fee changes at the regular meeting on February 6, 2023 and approved a 60-day public input process.

The Coconino County Fair ticket prices have not increased since 2008, and the changes would reflect growth, cost, and staffing needs.

  • Adult admission tickets, those ages 13 and older, would increase from $8 to $10.

  • Senior admission tickets, ages 65 and older, would increase from $5 to $6.

  • Youth Ticket prices would not change for the 2023 Fair but are proposed to increase by $1 for the 2024 Fair.

  • Military/Veterans would increase from $7 to $8.

  • County Employee Monday discounts would increase from $5 to $6.

  • Children 5 and under will remain free.

  • Parking at the Coconino County Fair would become FREE, allowing for greater ease of entry.

There will be promotions and coupons available in July each year.

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors will consider public comment and vote on the proposed fees during a Regular Meeting and Public Hearing on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom webinar technology. A link to that meeting’s agenda and Zoom webinar will be available at: https://www.coconino.az.gov/1589/BOS-Video-Stream

The Parks & Recreation Department, producers of the Coconino County Fair, will also hold public meetings prior to April 11 to solicit comments on the proposed fee changes. Those meeting dates will be announced on the Coconino County social media accounts and webpages.

Comments regarding the proposed fee change should be sent to Fair@coconino.az.gov.

David Nail to Perform Saturday Night

We are excited to announce that David Nail (website) will be performing at the upcoming Coconino County Fair on Saturday, September 4 at 8:00 pm on the Main Stage!

David Nail is performing in place of David Lee Murphy, who had to cancel due to illness.

Hailing from Kennett, Missouri, David Nail is well-respected up and down Music Row. The GRAMMY-nominated multi-platinum singer/songwriter’s early releases, I’m About To Come Alive, The Sound Of A Million Dreams, I’m A Fire and Fighter, ignited his reputation as an innovator and creative risk-taker yet left Nail feeling restless. Through dealing with his own journey of mental illness and the feeling of needing to “rebel against what people expect you to be,” Nail began making his most “organic” work to date, David Nail & The Well Ravens, with Jason Hall and Andrew Petroff. That project liberated Nail and propelled him into his next adventure. Writing solo for the next few months led to his debut solo independent EP Oh, Mother, a reflective piece of work. That release was followed by Bootheel 2020, a project dedicated to the singer/songwriter’s hometown in the “bootheel” of Missouri. Nail plans on releasing more music throughout 2021, leaving behind any self-imposed restrictions. In Nail’s own words, “My philosophy has always been, I just hope to have a good enough year that I can have a next year while staying as true to myself as I possibly can.”

Updated COVID-19 Protocols for the Fair

The Coconino County Fair updated its COVID-19 protocols on August 19, 2021. Those updates, and any future updates related to COVID-19 are available at the Fair’s COVID-19 page. The latest update has been pasted below. Please direct questions to Fair@coconino.az.gov.

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact.

Coconino County Parks & Recreation (CCPR), producers of the Coconino County Fair, has created new protocols and put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, CCPR cannot guarantee that you will not become infected with COVID-19.

Please follow CDC guidelines and take advantage of the protocols put in place by CCPR while visiting the Fair. By attending the Coconino County Fair, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

The Coconino County Fair will promote the current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), and Coconino County Health & Human Services (CCHHS) during this year’s Labor Day Weekend event. See the CDC website for more information on choosing safer activities or considerations for events and gatherings to learn more about their recommendations.

8/19/21 UPDATE

Recent changes to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have resulted in the following changes for the upcoming Coconino County Fair as it pertains to COVID-19 protocols.

All individuals, whether vaccinated or not, are required to wear a mask while indoors at the Coconino County Fair. This includes the fair office, all exhibit buildings, the commercial building, and the restrooms located within the commercial building. Disposable masks will be available for anyone who does not have one.

All guests are highly encouraged to continue masking while outdoors, especially if in a crowded area, such as inside the Main Stage and Livestock Show tents.

Additional Coconino County Fair COVID-19 Protocols include:

  • Requiring all Coconino County Fair staff, volunteers, and vendors to wear masks, especially when engaging with the public.

  • Providing hand sanitizer throughout the Fairgrounds and in each building.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting commonly touched surfaces throughout the event.

  • Encouraging physical distancing when individuals are on the Fairgrounds.

  • Augmenting the air circulation/ventilation in each building where possible.

  • The carnival at the Fair, operated by Brown’s Amusements, will require all staff to wear masks, frequently sanitize “high contact” areas, and promote physical distancing by not allowing people to sit together who are not from the same household.

We ask that all guests practice the following COVID-19 mitigation strategies:

  • Frequently wash and/or sanitize your hands

  • Practice physically distancing whenever possible & wear a mask when unable to physically distance

  • Try to remain within your cohort/household as much as possible, especially when enjoying entertainment or eating/drinking.

  • Avoid touching your face as much as possible

  • Cover coughs and sneezes using a tissue or the inside of your elbow. Throw tissues immediately in the trash.

  • Be alert for symptoms of COVID-19 and leave the facility if you exhibit symptoms (listed below)

Please remember to watch for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to attending this event. Stay home if:

  • You have recently tested positive for COVID-19

  • Are waiting for COVID-19 test results

  • You or someone in your household has had close contact with a person who has tested positive for, or who has the following symptoms of, COVID-19:
